Session Purpose:
This webinar aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of medical laboratory professionals in diagnosing and managing Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC), a complex and life-threatening coagulopathy. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the laboratory tests critical to diagnosing DIC, as well as the clinical strategies required for effective management.
Objectives:
- Understand DIC Pathophysiology: To provide an overview of the underlying mechanisms and causes of Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation, including common conditions associated with DIC.
- Identify Key Diagnostic Markers: To examine specific laboratory markers such as D-dimer, fibrinogen levels, platelet count, PT, aPTT, and others essential in diagnosing and monitoring DIC.
- Interpret Diagnostic Test Results: To develop skills in interpreting coagulation profiles and identifying patterns that indicate DIC progression or resolution.
- Explore Management Strategies: To discuss therapeutic options and management strategies for patients with DIC, including transfusion protocols and supportive care, and the role of the laboratory in monitoring treatment efficacy.
