To enhance the knowledge and practical competence of Medical Laboratory Officers (MLOs) in the detection and diagnosis of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical neoplasia, emphasizing the laboratory’s pivotal role in early detection, prevention, and improved patient outcomes.
Objectives:
- Describe the pathogenesis and epidemiology of HPV and its role in cervical neoplasia development.
- Demonstrate understanding of current diagnostic techniques for HPV and cervical lesions, including cytology, HPV DNA testing, and biomarker-based assays.
- Evaluate the laboratory’s role in quality assurance, reporting, and collaboration with clinicians to enhance cervical cancer prevention and control programs.
